Review on πŸ”ͺ Freud D0536X Diablo Cordless Trim Saw Blade - 5-3/8-Inch, 36 Tooth ATB Finish: Top Performance and Precision by Antoine Collins

Freud Diablo - (edit) Superbly smooth and quiet blade with fine kerf 36 teeth

Important noted feature of this blade 6 1/2 inch for 20 volt sawing means a smooth cut with the least amount of friction will help stabilize the interface between the motor and the base plate. I have found that ALL cordless saws have unstable pitch and cut depth components. The slightest bit of blade sticking causes blade torque to shift the metal frames, resulting in off-square cuts, overcuts, stress on the engine and engine mounts, and reduced battery life. A fan of Freud blades in Makita and Bosch work saws can't understand why I didn't buy a 6 1/2 inch blade sooner. Makes the cheapest saws run like clockwork, cuts smoother, quieter, less chipping and most importantly, less sharpening and time savings. End edit) Last year I bought an Olshun 5 1/2" 36 tooth blade for my B&D 20 volt Max.saw. It worked great for guardrail slats and 2x frames but was noisy. After reading the reviews on the Freud D0536X Diablo 5 3/8" 36 tooth blade I ordered it.. Test cuts on 2x4 hardened exterior under cover were surprising. When the blade was fully extended, only a few teeth went beyond the depth of 2x4, yet the blade cut smoothly, quietly, and without resistance. The Olshun blade, although slightly larger, had a small amount of drag that was noticeable and noisy. Diablo cut to the left. The surface is striking in its smoothness, with tiny whiskers along the cut surface. A quick hit with the sanding block did e.g. B. At right, an Olshun cut from the same piece of wood made last fall. Olshun Blades. Both freehand cuts used the same B&D battery when fully charged. For me Freud wins Diablo by a mile. It's worth the extra cost. The time savings over manually finishing the ends increases significantly if you have 40 or 50 fence pickets to cut. The light weight of the Diablo saw and saw blade greatly facilitates the finishing of birch plywood joinery.

Pros
  • Laser cut mandrel for precise blade rotation, reduces vibration and premature wear
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
