I've used many other filter pads in my reef tank and these are by far the best! I used blue, green and red filter pads, they all work about the same. When I bought them I thought they were the same. I bought them mainly because I decided it was better to use a filter pad without dye. Wow, I was wrong, these pads are way better. There are two layers and the layers are different, one side is for catching larger particles and the other is for catching smaller particles. You want a tighter woven section on the bottom, or it will quickly clog and defeat the purpose of the pads. The pads last longer, during the standard time I need to replace the pad these pads are not even half used. My unfiltered water enters one side of my nano tank and then flows over the seals. Instead of changing the gasket once a week, I change the gasket, then the gasket the next week, and then the filter gasket the next week. I could even go over a week between processes as changing the filter pad still leaves a large section in the center clean. I've been using the pads for about a month now, couldn't imagine it a month ago, and claimed I'd suggested a filter pad to anyone in the aquarium store, I felt they all work the same, but these filter pads are great and I do can highly recommend her. Do not clean these pads. They're so cheap that I throw them away when they're gone. I basically gave them five stars for this because I was just blown away by how well the pads work.
