I spent quite a bit of time researching which monitor I would upgrade to. In the end I decided to go to the store and let my eyes decide. While the HPw2408 is slightly (and I mean barely noticeably off) less sharp than a more expensive monitor, its brightness and smoothness are the same. However, the HP monitor has a much more imposing appearance. Photosensitive backlight control is a very nice feature, and the screen has very good viewing angles (with the possible exception of the downward tilt). I was afraid it might have halos due to the increased size, but after playing WoW at max resolution I didn't notice the slightest. In short, if you want an impressive, high-quality monitor and aren't worried about differences your eye can't see anyway, this is a good choice (especially on sale). If I had to complain, I would say that the built-in speaker is a tin can.
