Review on Bingfu CB Radio Antenna Mount Bracket - Secure Through Hole Fix for Vehicle CB, Ham, and Amateur Radios by Juan Axum

Take the chance and try it yourself.

I'll admit I'm a big review reader, but you can't always believe what you read and sometimes you just have to take a risk. So I have a 2020 Tacoma and bought an antenna cover bracket. from another company. It was nice because my dual band ham radio antenna looked almost like a standard antenna. However, the base of the antenna was almost two inches below the hood line and caused some immediate grounding problems. My initial SWR test showed 9:1 using a high quality, low loss cable with a fancy hood mount. I was looking for a solution that would increase the height of the hood mount as I liked the idea and had already spent over $30 on this mount. I've come across a few ideas similar to this Bingfu mount that easily cost 5x more and I couldn't justify them, especially when my idea didn't work. Long story short, I got this mount and removed the screw on the bottom that holds the mount clip. This left me with a 1.5 inch extension. I removed the NMO linkage from my failed hood mount and bolted this unit to the hood mount with a stainless steel nut/bolt. I cleaned both surfaces of varnish to ensure a secure connection in the contacts. I added an NMO connection to the Bingfu device and tightened everything up, checked for ground continuity and found no problems. So the real test was the SWR, and here it was the mix. I still have some fiddling to do but my SWR on VHF is now 1:3 and UHF is 2:1. Not bad at all considering where I started from. I didn't have any loosening issues but now I only have one turning point when I removed the factory base linkage. The finish seems well covered and goes well with my black truck. Overall I'm very satisfied and glad I risked this part before spending 5x more to most likely get the same result.
