I still find it absolutely ridiculous that an entry step doesn't come standard on our trucks. I liken this to having to pay extra to open the doors! The bed is what the truck is built around and we don't have to put anything in it. Anyway, I've had these types of running boards since they first came out on 3 different trucks (too bad my 14 doesn't match my 18). Two things, if you're worried it will spoil the look of your truck, don't do it. you don't even notice. Second, you need to hold on to something and pull yourself up. That's why the Ford has a bar and that's why it's a good design because you can hold on to the rail of your bed. All those other rungs that attach to a hitch or whatever you go up in the middle without being able to hold onto, for those getting older. Puts heavy weight on the hips when there is nothing to hold on to. going down is the same. Buy this and you won't regret it. The best mod you can add to your truck. I've had big boys who thought it wouldn't hold them back and it happens every time. Lost without them!
