The guide was useless, installation was difficult but the card works

The card works well and I recommend it, but the installation was needlessly painful as some have mentioned here. I installed the card on a Dell Optiplex 790 running Windows 10. The first thing to do after receiving the card is to take out the instructions and throw them away. You are almost entirely wrong. You must connect the card to a power source on your computer, otherwise the driver will not install (the instructions do not say so). This was a problem for me as the only SATA power connector in my computer was far from the card slot. I had to buy an extension cord and wait for it to arrive. The Y-cable that came with the card reminds you to match the cable colors when you connect it to your computer's power supply. It was impossible for me. The Y-cable has no orange wire and the included cable has a yellow wire. The "corresponding" wire in my computer was white. I figured it wouldn't matter since the connectors were compatible, so I plugged it in and it worked. After a bit of research, I found that most devices don't need the 3.3V connector that goes with the orange wire, so omit it. I still don't understand why Dell uses a white cable instead of a yellow one. This cable should be 12V. The red wire is powered by 5v which I think the card should need and the red and black wires match. Another customer here at Revain said that Windows 10 would not automatically install the driver and that they had to download version 3.8 of the driver and install it manually. I downloaded this version just in case, but Windows 10 automatically installed the driver! Windows Device Manager lists the driver as Fresco Logic USB 3.0 - 1.0 Extensible Host Controller (Microsoft). There may have been an update since this customer installed their card. So, I recommend the card, it works fine, but it was a hassle to install. Hope my experience helps others.
