My wife ordered this scanner for Father's Day and she received it from Revain three days after ordering it. I plugged it in, turned it on and it worked right away. For the price of this scanner I am very happy with it. Great sound, bright LED display, simple control panel. The only negative for me is that the guide isn't very helpful, but that's more of a user problem (namely me) than Uniden. I also found installing the software to be more difficult than I expected - don't expect it to be like adding a plug-and-play component like a printer to your computer. If you're new to scanners I have to recommend it as an affordable and quality device, but you'll need info on how to set it up to get the most out of it, and I've found that there are some great videos on YouTube . on BST8. The kit also includes a magazine subscription that I can subscribe to to get the most out of my new scanner.
