FOR THE PRICE this is a GREAT scanner

My wife ordered this scanner for Father's Day and she received it from Revain three days after ordering it. I plugged it in, turned it on and it worked right away. For the price of this scanner I am very happy with it. Great sound, bright LED display, simple control panel. The only negative for me is that the guide isn't very helpful, but that's more of a user problem (namely me) than Uniden. I also found installing the software to be more difficult than I expected - don't expect it to be likeโ€ฆ

Uniden BCT8 Trunk Scanner - Excellent

The Uniden BCT8 Trunk Scanner has saved me all the frustration I had trying to set up two different Radio Shack scanners. I first bought a new Pro-107 iScan Trunk Scanner and was unable to program it to get a basic EDACS SCAT system. I took it back to the Radio Shack and exchanged it for a PRO-164, but it still didn't get my local police force's EDACS SCAT system. I contacted about 7 different radio shops and no one could help me so I sent the PRO-164 back. Both Radio Shack scanners advertiseโ€ฆ

This scanner is amazing

This scanner tracks all radio traffic with no problem. I live in densely populated San Francisco at the entrance to the bay and just under the GG Bridge. This little scanner gets it all. CHP, bridge patrol, bridge electrician, bridge shuttle bus. SFPD, SFFD, SMP. Yellow cab, DPT, port pilots, tugs, laundry vans, full (too much information) TMI! In search mode, with the included telescopic antenna, I can get a signal from the north like San Rafael (Marin County), from the east like Oakland, andโ€ฆ

Uniden Bearcat BCT8

I've been using the BCT8 for a little over a month so I think it's taken a lot of time to comment. This scanner replaced a Bearcat 220XLT scanner which I had for over 15 years but burned out due to a lightning strike. I'm at a loss so I didn't have to use the available trunking features as none of the agencies I hear use trunking so I recommend you check out the other reviews/comments if you want to learn more about trunking. "Plus: Very good sound quality from the built-in speaker. Theโ€ฆ

Great scanner! at CB Radios & Scanners

I grew up with a police scanner in my house. Mom liked to listen. I've had mine for a while but my cat knocked it off the table and it broke. I haven't had that at all in the past two years. I spontaneously decided to buy a new one. I've always had a Radio Shack scanner. This time I went for the best quality Uniden. The quality is definitely better. It's not cheap plastic. This one is durable and built with quality in mind. I also love buttons. They all shine. It looks smooth. Programming isโ€ฆ

Excellent scanner, easy to program, expandable

I have two of these scanners, one for each machine. For the money this is a great buy. It's easy to work with and program (although I did most of the programming in software). I updated the firmware on both of my scanners to apply the 800MHz remapping update and everything went smoothly. In hindsight, however, I'd rather pay more for an alpha tag scanner that lets you name a frequency or talkgroup so you can see at a glance who you're listening to. If you only listen to a few agencies on BCT8โ€ฆ
