Review on The Dairy Fairy - Ultimate Handsfree Pumping and Nursing Bra for Everyday Wear, Sleep, and Compatible with All Breast Pumps by Kristin Bennett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Hands free and comfortable!

I am a premature baby and have been pumping exclusively since she was born a month ago. Let's just say I spend a lot of time on my pump! My pump came with the Simple Wishes pump bra/bustier which I was happy to use once I realized how much time I was going to put into it. I tried it several times and really hated it. First of all, it's kind of a straitjacket and it's very difficult for me to adjust, so I don't twitch and twitch and try to get comfortable. Severe stitches squeezed small areas together, and I ended up with clogged ducts and feeling like my breasts were bruised. Spending hours in the hospital recovering from an emergency c-section with a sick baby is super cool! In addition, the heavy material and the bandeau/single-breast design make any kind of massage impossible. And can you say ugly? Wearing anything other than a high neckline drew people's attention to the awesome zipper and creepy skin tone. I gave up on that pretty quickly and just started wearing flanges for my marathon shoes, believing that all pump gear is either prohibitively expensive or something. uncomfortable or nonfunctional. Just this week, when I started getting horrible carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms from holding a baby and stupid flanges, I decided to spend part of my sleepless brain searching for something better. This bra was more in line with what I would wear, but I didn't have high expectations. At first I was concerned about the size. Now I have 36 DDD or E so I ordered a big one. The straps are adjustable and the strap has 6? Eye rows so you can easily adjust that I think to match the size range in the size chart. The cups are made of a rather elastic material and almost completely cover me. Given the lighter material and stretch, I was surprised at how well the bra held the flanges, but it does, and not so tight that you end up with flange rings on your chest afterwards. If the bra was tighter or you used larger flanges (I use Medela 24mm flanges) I could see the flanges being difficult to work with and causing some of the tearing issues that other reviewers mention. The fabric is flexible and light enough for me to massage and there are no issues with the bra digging into me or pinching breast tissue. It's pretty smooth, even with nursing pads on, and doesn't leave any weird lines when you put it on. Overall it's pretty comfortable and I can wear regular shirts, crew necks and V-necks without flaunting anything ugly and industrial. My main criticisms are the synthetic material and the fact that it's just a bra on the shelf. The material is smooth and seems to wash well, but it doesn't breathe as well as cotton or blended fabrics. It gets a little sticky and wet all the time if you wear a sweater like me. A shelf bra will probably allow for that block size, but you'll end up with a single-breasted look without anything to separate the girls. It is also not very helpful for large breasts, although it is sufficient for normal activities. Bending over can be a bit of fun, and a light jog is out of the question! This is a huge win for me and I've ordered two more. It's now 5am and I was so happy to have my hands free while pumping that I decided to write a review.
