So I'm new to ham radio and found this. Read reviews and find expert advice to not believe removal claims. I use a Yaesu FT-60 5W portable radio. This antenna serves its purpose perfectly. I was struggling to get to a nearby town before getting this antenna. Working with some other radio amateurs, I was able to raise the antenna up to about 30 feet. My friend from a neighboring town says I'm free now. We can even speak of a simplex. Last night I managed to catch 3 nets: the first from a nearby town, the second from my county and the third from a county 21 miles away. Now don't think he's going to do 21 miles at 5 watts every day, but last night the conditions were just right. As a new radio amateur, I highly recommend this antenna for beginners. Make sure you put the antenna as high as possible and I doubt you'll be disappointed.
