Not very difficult to assemble. Strong enough. Has no unpleasant smell. It would be nice to have an opening panel on all sides, not just on two of the adjacent sides. It would also be nice if there was some sort of bracket attached to the walls of the enclosure to help the child pull themselves up to get up. It doesn't slip that easily, even on carpeted floors. We've only had him for a week. So far it's been very good. It doesn't look ugly in the living room either. We placed a foam puzzle mat on the floor of the playpen. Because the floor of the playpen is made of tarp, the mat does not stay completely flat and the child can easily pull the pieces out. If you are concerned about this, we recommend purchasing a playmat that is different from tiles.
