I have to admit I'm blown away by the improvement I've seen on my dog's skin from taking colostrum. Wafer had two bacterial skin infections this year. The first was treated with antibiotics and prednisone, the second with antibiotics and colostrum. After the first treatment, as soon as the prednisolone was gone, the ulcers began to return. I bathed him weekly but that didn't stop another bacterial infection flaring up, even worse than the first! His abdomen and armpits were covered with sores and scabs, it was terrible. I went back to the vet and she recommended Apoquel to me. At this point, my research had led me to colostrum. I stopped taking Apoquel and Prednisolone and just gave him antibiotics. The ulcers took a little longer to get better, but when they did I injected colostrum with antibiotics. Running out of antibiotics, they gave him colostrum once a day on an empty stomach. Two weeks later I have to say I'm really amazed at how great his skin looks! His allergies are environmental so I dry him off after playing outside and give him Benedryl as needed. I believe the colostrum has helped balance his immune system so it's no longer overreacting. I am a colostrum proponent! :)
