Add external power supply to avoid instability

Recently my Evoluent mouse was having trouble connecting to my computer for some reason. I've tried plugging/unplugging every other device on the hub to see if there is a hardware conflict. But I never found the right combination. Then I read a random line in a comment on a similar product about possible power issues with some USB devices. I have a gaming keyboard with wavy lights, so I suspect this had a big impact on the hub's performance. As soon as I added an external 5V USB power supply all uncertainties disappeared. Otherwise, this is a very reliable switch. I've been using it to switch between my Macbook Pro and Mac Mini for over a year and a half and it works flawlessly most of the time. Now that the power issues have been resolved, I have no complaints. I currently have a Logitech webcam, Evoluent mouse, Yeti microphone, and Logitech gaming keyboard, all of which work great when I'm switching between computers. If you see problems with devices connected to this hub, first try adding an external power supply and see if that fixes the problem before trying other investigation methods.
