Review on Apexstone 80N/18lb 7 Inch Gas Strut Cabinet Lid Stay - Set of 2 Gas Shocks Lift Supports Gas Spring by Steve Tripp

I was looking for a replacement gas stand for my Sentry Safe gun safe that was no longer working. The old rack only lifted the lid about half an inch, which required me to lift the lid with my finger to open it. Not the best thing to do in a home emergency when seconds count. Searching for Revain led me to these racks and after reading a few reviews from people in the same situation as me replacing a Sentry Safe gas rack with an Apexstone rack I ordered a pair. I followed another reviewer's instructions and replaced the rack in about 15 minutes. It was so easy it was almost scary, and now the Sentry Safe lid pops open like it should. Here's what I did: 1. Open the safe and delete everything (you know what I'm talking about)2. Unscrew the old gas spring (5/16 nut on top, Phillips screw on bottom)3. Remove the fasteners from both ends of the old strut and remove the spring from the shaft. They are simply unscrewed from the shaft.4. Remove the fasteners from both ends of the new strut and reinstall the old strut parts, including the spring, onto the new strut.5. Install the new rack into the safe using a nut and Phillips screw, which I hope you saved and didn't hit the cat on the floor. You're done. Note that when you're done, you'll still have a whole new rack along with the mounting hardware from the other new rack that isn't being used. You should probably put it somewhere where you can find it in case you need to do it again in a few years. I've only had it a week so I can't tell you how long the new rack will last, but I think it will last at least as long as the original rack. They seem to be made fairly well.
