$200 Fryer Quick, Inexpensive Repair

We have a $200 fryer that we love, but it just broke . When troubleshooting I found that this thermal fuse had failed, otherwise the unit was fine. So I replaced it for a few bucks and 20 minutes of my time. They are used in all small household appliances and are the ones that usually fail when the appliance exceeds the limit. Manufacturers use the lowest limit they can and a tiny spike and they fail and your product is withdrawn. This is easy to fix if you have a basic understanding of electricity and may need some military hardware. Take a few minutes or consult your favorite mechanic and you can fix a good product and save hundreds.

Pros
  • SF types have a ceramic tube to protect sealing resin from wire bending
Cons
  • So far so good
