Review on High-Performance Superteam 50mm Clincher Wheelset | 700c | Racing Road Carbon Wheels | 23mm Width | White and Red Decal by Michael Vargas

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Inexpensive carbon wheelset at a great price! (Will update accordingly in the long run)

I will update this review as I earn miles on them. I was quite skeptical at first about buying these as my first pair of carbon tires. Read each review of this wheelset carefully before making your decision and diving into sourcing. 0 miles - Shipping was pretty quick (6 days) and it arrived in pristine condition. The packaging was sufficient. Thoroughly tested discs and braking surface out of the box. Nothing wrong. The rims were spot on, maybe 1mm, but no big deal. Also included was a set of carbon pads, 4 spokes, 2 SuperTeam branded QR bolts, a cassette spacer and a pair of valve extenders. Total weight came in at just over 1650g, which was slightly heavier than the advertised 1600±30g for 100 miles - it managed to do a good number of 900w sprints in that time. The wheels held up great and stayed true. The hub is very loud, I agree, but it might be worth considering. Braking was adequate in dry conditions. The stock pads work well and make a very smooth noise under deceleration, although you will smell a burnt odor after consecutive brakes. The braking surface is intact. 600 miles - fantastic. Was skeptical that the spokes or spoke nipples might fail but it was ok. The braking surface is still intact and visibility is almost the same as before. The bearings still run very smoothly, there are no problems here. I noticed that the rear hub would sometimes make a loud clicking noise when pedaling slowly or while standing. I'm assuming it's a communication issue. Might be something to consider if you do a lot of sprints.
