Review on Ultimate Kitchen Storage Solution: Bestier Baker's Rack with Hutch, Microwave Oven Stand, and Coffee Station by Brianna Kamp

Revainrating 4 out of 5

satisfactory. - Kitchen furniture

I use it as a printer (and scanner) stand in my home office as shown on one of the pictures in the description, not as a kitchen product. It is as described. I would pay more for a more durable, slightly larger product. It seems that the stuff coming out of the Far East these days is destined to cut more and more rough edges, and this is another example. Do not get me wrong. It's decent, but could use an inch or two more on each side, and "plastic wood" could be 1/4 to 1/2 thicker. Then, of course, the metal had to be a bit longer. and all of this would probably add $5 to the cost of production. But I would pay 50% more than what I paid for it. My printer ONLY fits and is slightly heavier (about 5 lbs) than the shelf rating. I'm willing to take the risk but fully expect the shelf to warp at some point. But with a little more bulk it would be absolutely perfect. And you just can't find it these days without making it and it's going to cost too much. At least I couldn't. I've noticed the same thing with home office desks. My wife's desk was purchased a few years ago and was made in China. When I went to buy a table this year when COVID forced us all to work from home, I measured it and compared it to the current size. They were all two to four inches smaller (in length and thickness) than hers. This is what other manufacturers do to increase profits but keep prices the same. They save material and hope that the consumer will not notice. I did exactly that and ended up making a solid wood desk and just tying some legs to it. If this baker's shelf fails I'll probably do something similar, grab some good pieces of hardwood from the lumber yard and add them to this one or build another shelf. If you want a real baker's wreck this is fine for your purpose. But it's not a "heavy" item, so don't expect it to carry much weight or stability if you're using it in a home office.

Pros
  • Well made
Cons
