Review on πŸ› οΈ Precision Woodworking Marking Gauge Kit - Clarke Brothers Wheel Marking Scriber with 2 Replacement Cutters - Graduated Inch & MM Scale - Solid Metal Bar Scribe Tool for Carpenter by Jay Sterns

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Needs a little adjustment but works very well

There were two things that prevented this sensor from working properly from the start: - The cutting edge was not sharp. Imagine a "butter knife". The face was very badly cut. Think of the record. A dull edge is easily remedied by removing it and sharpening it with diamond stones. The ridged surface caused it to hug the edge of the tree instead of gliding smoothly over it. The antidote was the same: grinding diamond stones. After these corrections, the sensor works very well. The cutter slides into a notch on the front for a secure grip, the markings on the handle are a little harder to read but are perfectly accurate. I had to spend about 30 minutes to make it a very good tool. If you have a grind and sharpening method and are willing to put in a little work then this caliber is perfect. I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 because it required "tuning". I also wish it had a flat side so it wouldn't roll as hard, but that's easy to do with a file.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
