I have one such remote control at home, and another at my mother's. They are very easy to program as they have a code lookup website on the back of the remote which is easy to browse and find out my codes. I didn't even fully understand what I was doing, but searching through the codes finally led me to the correct code with a little patience and willingness. For reference, one TV brand is Phillips and the other is LG. We don't have a cable, so I use my remote to turn the TV on and off, view settings, switch inputs, channels and volume between the HDMI ports occupied by my PS4 and Rock Stick. My mom uses her smart tv apps and she also has a Roku stick. You're using a Roku remote with Roku login, but the remote works well enough for everything else. The buttons also light up (from the power volume/channel buttons) when you press them, so they're always visible when you're fiddling with it at night, but it's a basic remote control so I'm sure you'll get used to it. where the buttons are anyway.
