Judging from the first photos, I wasn't sure I'd like the unusual hole pattern on the knife's top edge. However, as soon as I got my hands on it, that fear went away! This is truly a fine example of German blade craftsmanship. Even the Pakka handle looks amazing and looks so much like real wood that I treated it like a regular wooden handle the first few times I cleaned it after use! The serrated edge is very sharp and cuts perfectly through bread and vegetables. I can even get wafer-thin slices of soft bread and vegetables (like tomatoes), which is difficult without good sharpening and edge design. I love its weight and overall feel and it fits my hand perfectly for maximum comfort.
