I have had three different Wansview cameras. W3 is an older 720p model. The W4 is 1080p with a wider viewing angle and better mounting options. The W6 adds a few features to the W4 - it has two-way audio and can record to a micro SD card. The mount is also different from the W4, giving you more flexibility in where to point the camera. The W4's antenna is fixed at a 90Β° angle, but the W6 uses a flexible antenna that's slightly longer for easier aiming. The image quality of the W6 is the same as the W4, perhaps a little less fisheye distortion in the lens (distortion difficult to compare directly depending on where the cameras are mounted). W6, like W4, requires setup of the Wansview app, but after getting your IP address and camera login name and password, you can use third-party apps like TinyCam Pro (Android) or iSpy (Windows 10) to view your cameras. If you have different brands and models of cameras, it is best to combine them in one app. A few minor issues with W6. First, the mount isn't all that secure - even if I tighten the wing nut on the ball and socket, the camera still moves with moderate effort; If you install it in a traffic area, someone may trip over the camera and confuse it. In addition, the W6 mounting base no longer hides wiring, making it vulnerable to hackers; Wiring for W4 can be routed out from under the base and through the wall. However, it uses the same mounting pattern, allowing W4 and W6 (and even the older W3) to be installed in the same place. I also noticed that night vision on the W6 is blurry now; However, it is under a canopy and appears to focus on the hanging portion of the canopy rather than the porch it is pointing towards. I may need to lower the mount a bit to fix this. I also had a small issue with the setup. With the W4 I was able to connect the cameras via their Ethernet ports and configure them to connect to a wireless network - it was quick and easy. With W4, none of the WLAN methods worked reliably. On the W6, trying two different cameras, the Ethernet ports did not allow configuring the cameras for WiFi. (The MAC address was shown in my router though, so I know the cameras can connect to the network via ethernet.) A firmware update may be required to fix this. In general, the picture quality is the same as the W4, adding two - a way to record sound and a micro SD memory card. If you need these features, the W6 is the model for you. Otherwise, the stronger W4 mount might be better suited for outdoor use.
