Review on Kodak Easyshare M340 Digital Camera (Red) by Chris Hossain

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent but flawed

The Kodak M340 was purchased for my artist wife who needed a reliable quick shot camera for family photos, travel photos and scenes for her watercolor backgrounds. She is excellent at these tasks. Well, so compact and light she takes it everywhere. Available mobile phones cannot capture close-up, panorama and other settings that this camera offers. She has a digital SLR. It's bulky and heavy, but has a straight viewfinder. The M340 only has an LCD screen for object viewing. Unfortunately, it "blurs" and doesn't work well in broad daylight. Unfortunately, like many other compact digital cameras, this M340 had a problem with the zoom lens and was returned out of warranty for repair. Now, four months later, the lens zooms out again, immediately retracts, and turns off. I've done all the recommended troubleshooting steps like compressed air cleaning and various resets, but nothing good. So I can send it back to United Camera ($64 for a standard lens repair) and hope it lasts as a backup this time. I ordered a Panasonic DMC-ZR3 replacement for it. It features a Leica 25mm wide-angle lens and a higher reliability rating.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Secret
