Review on πŸ”ˆ Dark Walnut Micca OoO Bookshelf Speakers - Pair with 3-Inch Woofers and Silk Tweeter by Christie Cox

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Extremely good sound for its size

These little speakers appear smaller than their larger MB42x cousins. They are definitely thinner and much more comfortable for desktop use. Sonically they have a nice smooth top end and reasonable bass for their size. The mids feel recessed, low, understated, etc. and definitely need a small subwoofer to deliver full sound, but paired with a small 6.5" or 8" sub it sounds a lot better than either. Speaker in a Box Computer Setup . They would also make pretty cute and tiny surround speakers or atmospheric surround speakers. All in all, for $100, it's a very good deal. Of course you can spend less and still have something that's either listenable or a lot bigger and performs a lot better, but it's a good record in the small but good category. They sound better overall compared to the MB42x, although the mids are better on the MB42x. But my pair of MB42x sound so bad I still think there is something wrong with them. They don't have the hissing bright tweeters of the MB42x, which is a welcome change. I think to do better at this price you have to get used to it much better anyway but it takes more time and effort to shop. The RB42c step-up model is good too, but just over twice the size and twice the price. Is it worth? Maybe if you really can't put anything bigger in the room or buy something bigger used. For all of these, you still need a subwoofer.
