I was constantly fiddling with my bike, changing things. Among other things, I change the brakes and the gears. Before I bought them I usually ended up cutting off the old grips and buying new ones and then wrestling with them. On them I use the included hex wrench, loosen the set screws and they pop right out. Of course, this set has only existed for about a month, but I don't see any way that longer would make a difference. I also really like the "feel" of these grips. They're different than what I'm used to, but after a few days I really like it.
