Bad card case. - Boating & Sailing

Unfortunately I don't like this case. I really don't like it very much. The product is a design for those who want their map as they walk around their yard doing nothing that actually involves protecting maps in the real wilderness. Let's start by saying that the case is deceptively small regardless of the declared size. Not intended for use with USGS topo maps or MGRS maps. You need a lot of folds. A lot of. This comes with 2 zipped pockets inside that HAVE HOLES. Not as a defect, but as an air vent to keep it flat. Interesting Fact: The holes let water through. The case itself has a good plastic cover that is very flexible and fairly durable. Careful. Flashy pens/alcohol markers are great for this. flash quality. The back of the cover is made of cloth material. The fabric is NOT WATERPROOF and even slightly waterproof. On the opposite side of the zipper, at the bottom of the case, are large grommets, likely for air or water to escape. THEY ALSO LET WATER IN. I've used this to navigate about 30 miles in total on mostly dry days with maybe some rain. The case worked great, except for the fact that due to the small size (my fault) I had to keep removing and flipping the cards. Then I was in the rain and swam for about 4 hours. My card was oatmeal. I needed a large size. I was in a very difficult place to navigate and the water just got in. Through fabric, through holes, everything. A gallon or more ziplock bag is a cheaper and MUCH better card case than this item. If you want a real cardholder instead of a zipper, buy the Sealine cardholder. DO NOT use this case for actual use in the wild. If you think the card is actually getting wet, use something else. Don't waste money.
