Missing link: Fix correct holes in heatsink

There are many comments on the extra narrow screw holes on the heatsink for this article. These comments are absolutely correct. I had a suitable tap in my tool kit and I turned each of the eight holes on the heatsink about five turns and was able to screw in the provided screws with little effort. I would like to know the exact dimensions of the screw and tap. were, but I happened to have the right one, and it's unmarked. This is my first attempt at building a water cooled PC so I used 8 short machine screws to attach two fans to the heatsink. I then mounted the unified array into the front of my case (drawing air from the outside, requiring the large Corsair logo on the fans to be visible from the outside) and secured it there with large self-tapping screws that went straight into the case go case. Openings in two fans. Like many others, I connected the fan tach wire to the wrong connector on the motherboard, but it worked on the second try. I don't have any stats yet on how cool things are staying, but I'm very pleased. My graphics card is also water-cooled and I have a single fan in the heatsink installed at the exhaust point on the back of the case.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Minor issues
