Cheap plastic case with a very weak, noisy fan. It is not intended for frequent hard drive swaps as the drives and cover are held in place by screws. There's one clumsy but important setup step, even if you don't change the RAID DIP switches: you have to press and hold the recessed confirmation on the back when you turn it on, and hold it until the drive lights start blinking. The drive works fine (so far).
