Don't believe the positive reviews! From Field Engineer

For the record, I'm a cable engineer and deal with splitters regularly. I will say that this is ideal for antenna television signals. However, I would strongly advise against doing this for your internet. Unfortunately, many consumers are fooled into believing that gold and a high number are equal to better. It's not like this. When you open this splitter you will see a very simple analog splitter system. This leads to a reduction in the signal-to-noise ratio on the digital carrier. I took care of that by opening the splitter. I also connected my spectrum scanner to this splitter and recorded -30 decibels of noise. The splitter must NOT emit any noise! If it does, it's due to poor shielding and connections. I recommend Antronix Splitter or similar. If you open the back of a good quality splitter you should be able to see the circuit board. You will also need a 5-1002MHz splitter. The maximum frequency of all cable factories in the US is currently 1 GHz. By purchasing a 1GHz splitter, you focus on the clearer frequency range where your devices actually operate. Also this is a good splitter for TV antenna signals. But for digital TV and DOCSIS it is strongly discouraged.
