Review on πŸŽ₯ High-Definition 1080P Webcam with Mic, Sherry Wide Angle Camera with Privacy Cover & Tripod - Perfect for PC, Laptop Streaming, Game Recording, Conferences - Plug and Play USB Webcam by Bill Howard

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works out of the box with CentOS7.x Linux, plug-n-play.

This review is not about whether I like this webcam or not, as many webcams share the same features and design. For me the key points are: Does it work and is it compatible with CentOS 7 Linux? 1- A USB webcam connected to an available USB port. Video is sharp and clear. 3- Signal LED lights up (green). 4- Closed by the cheese app. 5- Updated the Zoom client to version 5.3 via the terminal. 6- Launched Zoom client and in Settings > Webcam video recording is crisp and clear. . However, there is a small problem, small red pixels (fireflies) on the screen > close the zoom app > turn off the computer > re-insert the webcam USB cable into another USB port, same problem. Firefox v68 video is crisp and clear. The camcorder did not work when using Chrome v85/permissions.8. Tested again with Zoom with the participant and doesn't see any "little red pixelation" on their page. Finally, I think the problem might be with the Zoom client app, not the webcam. . The camcorder will be tested with Mint 19 later this week. Update: 5 Oct 20. Using Mint OS version 19/32bit and updating Zoom to version 5.3. Connect the webcam to the laptop and start the Zoom client. Screen capture is crisp and clear, no pixelation like CentOS 7.x and the Zoom client. Update: December 14, 20. This webcam has been tested on CentOS 7 and Mint 19 operating systems. Works well with no problems so far. This webcam is a sentinel.
