This is probably better suited to newer laptops and Chromebooks that have universal USB-C ports, but it can be used in many different ways. I just tried it on my small (new) Chromebook and it worked great with just a USB C cable connected. I used a completely independent display on it than on the Chromebook. When Google was browsing Chromebook news and YouTube was playing the latest music videos on this 15.6-inch monitor. You can also easily mirror your display if you wish. For older computers that don't have USB-C, you'll need to connect the included USB-to-USB-C cable for power, and then connect the HDMI cable to your computer or device to receive video. The kit includes all the cables you need. You may need longer cables if you want to expand your displays. The included instructions are simple but effective. The controls are intuitive and simple once you become familiar with this monitor. I set the brightness to around 50% and it looked pretty darn good to me. It also has its own audio output.
