Review on Imachinist S72121224 Bi-Metal 72-1/2" Long, 1/2" Wide, 0.025" Thick Bandsaw Blades For Cutting Soft Ferrous Metal (24TPI) by Scott Wallace

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good blade for the price

This is a decent blade. The price was right, and though not top grade, it appears to be a pretty good quality material. The length was only slightly off, but still within the range of adjustment. Just make sure you tension it right. I don't have a tension meter, so I set tension by eye. Raise the guides about 4 to 6 in. off the table push the blade. The blade should deflect only about 1/4 in. I've also used the "guitar" method, by plucking it until it has a good sound. Don't use any more tension than the workpieces require for straight cutting. Otherwise it may cause premature bearing wear or blade breaksge.

Pros
  • Overall cuts very nice. Time will tell if it will last.
Cons
  • The 72-1/2" length may not be suitable for certain bandsaw machines that require longer or shorter blades
