Review on 🏠 TP-Link Smart Hub and Complete Home WiFi Mesh System by Herve Latreche

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A true mesh home network with incredible roaming capabilities!

I started my mesh network with Deco M5s and chose them over other mesh products because they supported a WIRED backchannel connection (something that Orbi, Google etc did NOT support at the time). Since my house is connected to Cat5e it would be foolish not to use it. FYI, the three-channel Deco M9s are now even better for wireless than the M5s before them. The M9 also added a smart home hub (but supports enough devices to justify swapping out my Samsung "SmartThings" hub). My TPLink mesh network easily supports mixed M5 and M9, mixed wireless and wired reverse links and everything works. flawless together. There are NO dead zones left in my home and all of my many smart devices stay connected. My Ring.com cameras work better with this system than other mesh network devices I've had enough of (most of which have actually had issues with smart cameras like the Ring). All of my roaming devices (i.e. iPhones, tablets, etc.) work better with my M5/M9 grid setup than the results I see when I visit family and friends (who have other Grid products) where switching between these devices can be quite noticeable. I particularly like the antivirus software that came with it, it was a life saver to have network level protection which went a long way in protecting both the kids and the less 'techy' adults in the house. Let's just say it ourselves. I also like QoS, usage summaries, attack summaries and user profile groups. The APP is easy to use, it supports all the necessary key functions and I think I really like it. You should be happy with APP as there is no HTTP interface on this system. There is also a slight delay when launching the app, but I personally don't see that as a problem. All mesh systems I've seen have many pros and cons as MESH is still evolving. Most of my tech friends have noticed this. other systems like Google, Orbi, etc. (at a higher cost) are chasing the fastest overall speeds they can find. All this despite the fact that their devices can't even use it because their cable modem connections are slower (which means none of them have Gbit service with their ISP yet). So TPLink is really a hidden gem in the MESH system. Arena. It just works! In addition, it supports things that are important to most households (that I know of) such as: E.g. multiple devices, roaming, that really roams, wired or wireless, 4K streaming. Add to that a very affordable price point, easing any worries about buying enough units to eliminate all dead spots in a home of any size. To be honest I think this is the best value of the whole mess!
