I bought this to work from home and want to keep my work laptop a little higher so the screen is about the same height as the external monitor. It's surprisingly stable and I've never worried about the stand collapsing, but it's actually a little annoying to put the laptop on the stand. There is a small black flap that folds down but falls back very easily so you have to lift it and also place the laptop on the stand (with the lid open). It's not that heavy, but that's my only minor gripe with this product. Otherwise it serves its purpose and would recommend it.
