I am very satisfied with my purchase from Messermeister. The set is very attractive. I don't see any of the manufacturing issues that other reviewers have seen. The handles are smooth and comfortable to hold. The blade and fork look exactly like the picture. The edge is sharp, albeit uneven. A few minutes with a sharpener won't fix anything. The blade is made of food grade steel. Very stain resistant but not very hard. Some have criticized this, but it is really unfair. X50CrMoV15 steel is the best steel available for knives in this price range. To get the best steel, look at a set that costs over $100. The biggest problem is that the product description oversells it. This is not "high quality German steel". Expect to sharpen it every two or three uses. My only real disappointment with the set is that it comes in retail packaging (hanging on a shelf) without a case. This would be adequate for most knives in this price range. However, in most cases, the thread kit is used very rarely. If it doesn't come in a box, most of us keep it somewhere until we need a set. A minimal sheath or sleeve would be nice. Even if it made the set a little more expensive. The steel is German and the knife is Chinese.
