I thought it was made in Portugal like other Messermeister cutlery I've bought in this price range; However, it is made in CHINA and returned for a full refund.

I felt cheated when I saw the word China on the knife although it was never in the description. You get what you pay for. The quality of the meat is not very good. Rough surface and sharp corners. Bad investment.

I returned one of these because the blade was offset, not even remotely straight. The second is better, but still noticeable when looking directly from the handle to the tip of the knife. Otherwise the blade looks sharp and would be of good quality if straight.

Great set. A set twice the price isn't worth it if you don't like the old-fashioned look. We've carved with it a few times and have found the weight and ease of use to be very pleasing. The only thing that kills a bit is the storage. We're not quite sure how to store it long-term. Now it's rolled up in a napkin, tied with an elastic band - not impressive.

Pros: This is a solid, well made set that required minimal sharpening on arrival. This worked great for carving our turkey. The Bad: The finishing touches are a bit rough. You can feel a slight edge where the grip material meets the shaft. Nevertheless, it feels good in the hand. The worst thing was that it wasn't carefully packed at all. Most of our kitchen knives are too dull to cut roast or turkey so I ordered this set based on the features (as described) and price. In general, the reviews were good, which bribed me. Having used them I have to agree. Excellent value for money and quality. The fork holds the meat in place well and the knife does an excellent job of slicing the meat into thin portions. I am very satisfied with my purchase from Messermeister. The set is very attractive. I don't see any of the manufacturing issues that other reviewers have seen. The handles are smooth and comfortable to hold. The blade and fork look exactly like the picture. The edge is sharp, albeit uneven. A few minutes with a sharpener won't fix anything.
