Review on 🔪 Premium Brown Messermeister Avanta Pakkawood 2 Piece Kullenschliff Carving Knife and Fork Set by Beth Martin

--- UPDATE: 08/29/20192 1/2 year update. Changed from 4 to 5 stars. I don't know what I was thinking at the time. :-) Natural wood will expand and contract due to changes in temperature and humidity. I already knew this, but at the time I was doing a 'non-standard' review and impression and was probably paying too much attention to every little detail at that particular moment. I noticed a difference within a few weeks of this, but the handles must have "rebounded" because I completely forgot, and they were as smooth and silky as my steak knife set. I just tested them before updating this review and yes, perfection! ---Original review I bought this set simply because I love the Avanta Pakkawood steak knives so much I wanted the same set. Much of what has been said so far is true, so I will not repeat myself. They have excellent balance and weight, typical of the Messemeister, and I am very happy with their game. The blade and fork are excellent on their own, but for those familiar with Messemeister's usual focus on overall quality, you might be a bit disappointed. I took off a star for the handles. While the tang and pakkawood on my steak knives are nice and smooth, the pakkawood on both knives and forks is the same, only slightly narrower than the tang. There is a small protrusion at the top and bottom along the entire length of the handle, which you can definitely feel be able. It's not a deal breaker, but it lacks that silky smooth feel in your palm that I love so much about my steak knives that just exudes "quality". For the price, I certainly can't complain. I'm an outdoor enthusiast who processes meat and seafood myself. I "know" a good knife and a Messermeister is definitely a steal for the quality you get. I'm definitely keeping this set, but compared to their own Avanta steak knives, the Avanta cutting set is a bit off.
