The neighbor had a yellow compact fluorescent bulb in a lamppost powered by a digital daylight sensor and timer. When the lightbulb failed, she asked how to find a replacement. I've read of studies showing that warm white LED bulbs don't attract insects, unlike incandescent bulbs. I tried a 9 watt lightbulb I had on hand. The next day she said she preferred yellow. This bulb should perform better than fluorescent bulbs in cold weather and last longer. It works with your digital controller and comes with a spare. Leaving it on from dusk to dawn adds about $2 a year to her electric bill. It doesn't shed much light on her porch, but she likes it that way.
