Review on ๐Ÿ” Replacement Service for Compatible Thermostat Assembly by Jay Sterns

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy but sticky to install.

This thermostat kit is designed for use with Atwood water heaters. There is a good guide in the bag. Overall, it's easy to install, but there are a few sticky areas (pun intended) that can be tricky. First, there are no pre-punched holes in the rubber mat for different models with different distances between the two sensors. That means you have to install both sensors and then try to slide the mat over the pins so they go through the mat. It's best to do this without removing the backing so you can mark where the teeth go and then cut the mat with a knife; instead of trying to smash teeth through the mat. The second task is to remove the backing, then line up the mat with the newly cut holes, then glue the mat without wrinkles and press the left side against the wall behind the exhaust area. It may help if you get a new set of connectors to replace the connectors on the wires. Definitely recommend a heat gun to shrink that plastic onto the new connectors. It also compresses the rubber mat a bit, which I found helpful when attaching it. If you need it, you know what it is and it's a good replacement.

Pros
  • Emergency replacement thermostat. If you're having trouble with your water heater, clean the contacts and then check the thermostats.
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine.
