Review on HumanCentric VESA Mount Adapter for Apple Cinema Displays - Compatible with 20 inch and 23 inch Models, Replaces Apple M9649G/A, Patented and Effective by Samuel Kromah

Yes, it will fit Apple Cinema Display 30 " (M9179LL/A - A1083)

I bought an Ergotron desktop monitor mount because I wanted to see if I could mount my 30" Apple Cinema Displays might - I *didn't* originally go down this route because Apple states that the 30-inch ACD display doesn't support VESA mounting right out of the box. Instead, you need to purchase an adapter plate (M9649G/A) to install the 100mm VESA mount. The downside to the adapter plate is that like the ACD 30" it's discontinued - although it occasionally shows up on ebay, it usually costs over $100. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out about this plate, but after reading it due After reading the reviews and description from the seller I was worried it wouldn't fit so I rolled up and ordered one I'm very happy to report that this applies to the ACD 30" but there are three things That I must mention (One important, two are comments): 1) If you are removing the ACD 30" from the original stand, be sure to keep the two original thumbscrews. They are slightly longer than the ones supplied and must be reused. Be careful when removing from the original stand because the last thing you need to do is tap the threads or round off the hex head.Slight deviation in the gap where the thumbscrews above fit.Te ile that come with the adapter are included to throw a couple of pucks. With the first monitor, installing a puck on each side was almost perfect. On the second monitor I had to put two on one side and one on the other (and if the washer was half the thickness it would be two on one side and one and a half on the other). I won't say this is the adapter's fault as it could be a fault in my monitor's components (hex head screws and/or original stand). Not really negative, I just noticed a difference between my two setups. 3) Pivot not ideal depth - this can be a problem as the brace is designed for universal use. • several different Apple monitors. So my ACD 30" pitches down a few degrees, and when I raise my hand, it rotates up a few degrees before the mounting arm starts to move. The flanges are covered with silicone caps (the rest of the mount) is bent in the same orientation as the hinges, but top and bottom) where the monitor would otherwise make contact and possibly damage the aluminum casing. They do the job satisfactorily, but I wish they were about 1/4" taller each " to shorten the journey. I installed the monitors to free up space on my desk and don't move them around much, so it's not a problem at all, but if I move the monitors around a lot I might worry about excessive Make strain by push/pull I am pleased with the performance of this item and the reasonable price, everything I needed could either be used from an existing installation or was in the Supplied with (except for a screwdriver with th nimble Philips #2) so there were no unexpected trips to the hardware store. Installation was fairly easy and straightforward except for inserting washers as detailed above (YMMV). If someone asked my opinion I would recommend it.
