I specifically chose this lid because both the front of the There is a hole in the kennel as well as the side of the kennel Our GSD doesn't really need extra privacy so we left the side cover rolled up anyway The vinyl is thin so it blocks the wind but I wouldn't recommend it for bad snowy weather and it Doesn't retain heat very well We plan to only use it outdoors when transporting the dog in the back of a truck in rainy weather or on long highway trips.
