For many years with three cats I have tried every type of rug, rug and tray I could find. Garbage is still everywhere. This mat is by far the best I've had for catching rubbish. I still have minimal tracking but most stay on the mat. It shakes out easily, I do it every 2-3 days, no problem. I have a lifeguard who is 24 pounds (such a big guy) who is occasionally in a box but not far enough away and urinates over the edge onto the mat. I just pick it up, shake it outside to get rid of dirt, then wash it in the shower. It cleans easily. After reading the negative reviews I almost gave up on this one (we have 3 of them) but I'm so glad I did as I've only had positive experiences.
