Review on TERK Dual Drive Amplified Indoor Antenna by Chris Castro

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great in the right place.

I've heard many combinations of radios and antennas over the decades. After reading most of the reviews on here I decided to give it a try. BTW I hook it up to a Sangean AM/FM HD tuner which doesn't need a lot of input to get a good signal. Anyhow, TERK made it safely to my home in Tumwater, Washington. I took it out of the box, pocketed it, placed it on an 8ft high shelf and was immediately disappointed. I only received about a dozen channels. I thought about it, got a coax extension cable and started experimenting with different locations. Of course, the reception was very different depending on the position. I finally settled on a windowsill where it rests against the shutters, attracting stations from across West Western Australia. I even have excellent reception from Longview Station, which is about 70 miles south of me. In no time I installed all 20 presets on Sangean with great sound from stations mostly in Seattle, WA about 60 miles north of me. The signal strength was excellent throughout. I estimate I'm getting usable signals from at least 40 stations, although some of the weaker ones are fading. I usually listen to rock, classical and modern and I have many stations to choose from, all free and many with limited advertising. The TERK indoor antenna gives a good signal and saves me from having to install an overhead unit. Remember that positioning is everything with this antenna, so move it before you decide it doesn't work for you. It would have been nice if it came with more coaxial cable to make it easier to move around. But hey, you can't have everything.

Pros
  • Be prepared for the storm - check local weather, news, emergencies and school closures
Cons
  • Not sure
