Review on Dell U2518D LED Lit Monitor - Enhanced Compatibility for 2560X1440P by David Hatje

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very satisfied, highly recommended

This monitor replaces the Dell U2415 (1600x1200). I ordered this monitor from another website a while ago and got horrible backlight bleeding (sent it back). to pictures). The brighter corners in images are due to the use of LCD and edge lighting technology. All LCD monitors will look like this (at least all I've had). Overall, this monitor is a definite improvement over the previous Dell monitor I had. The text is much clearer. The screen diagonal is not too small for the screen resolution. monitor wears. The text is smaller than on the previous monitor, but not so much that you need to apply scaling in Windows (at 100%). Colors look nicer than the previous monitor, although it's important to note that the old Dell was 5 years old. Colors should be better as this monitor has a true 8-bit display (maybe even 10-bit = 8-bit + 2-bit software) compared to Dell's old 6-bit + 2-bit software. I like the slim bezel and slim profile overall. I'm short on desk space, wanted a higher resolution, and this was the largest display I could fit. Otherwise, I would probably go for the larger 2160p monitor. 2160p at 25 inches would probably make the text too small. There is a negative difference between the new and the old, although the old was more comfortable for me. Pressing the power button on an old Dell put this monitor to sleep. While in this case the monitor turns off. The problem is that I also have a regular TV connected to the same computer and when I want to watch something on the TV I try to turn off the monitor (Turn off the backlight), Windows moves desktop and makes the TV the main screen. Fortunately, there is a workaround. Using the Dell Sleep Application (ddm.exe) available from the Downloads/Monitor partition on the Dell website. Command line option that immediately puts the monitor to sleep.
