I don't normally write reviews but I felt it was necessary for this Dell U2518D. After looking at the many negative reviews on here I almost decided to skip this monitor and look for something else. I'm glad I didn't. The reason I looked at this monitor was because I wanted to use it in a dual display configuration with my other monitor, the Dell UltraSharp U2515H. The U2515H was the predecessor of the U2518D and I wanted something as similar as possible. I started looking for my identical model but for some reason the only ones I could find were very expensive. I started reading reviews of the Dell U2518D and most of what I read was quite positive, like the detailed review from pcmonitors.info. When I checked the reviews on the Best Buy website, this monitor had many reviews and a rating of almost 5/5 stars. Then when I looked at the reviews on here, I started to get concerned. I almost ordered a Dell 4K monitor for a little more, but I really wanted a 2560 x 1440 monitor because. The text size is ideal and I prefer to work at native resolution rather than use scaling. I ordered it expecting the worst. As soon as I connected the monitor and turned it on, I expected a lot of backlighting on a black background, but that just wasn't the case. In fact, this monitor seemed a little better than my U2515H in this regard. When I booted up the computer and looked at the two monitors side by side, everything looked fine, but it needed adjustment. I personally found this monitor to have a slight green or blue cast compared to my U2515H. After I made the following changes it matched the U2515H and looked perfect: Brightness: 60% Contrast: 75% (Default setting) Default mode: Custom Color Red: 100% Green: 95% Blue: 94% I left the rest on Spot. default values. With these settings, the display was pretty much identical to my other monitor, and the white screen had no blue-green tint. I've had this monitor for about a week now and I love it. In fact, I think it's a bit better than my U2515H (which always got very high marks). I have no dead pixels and the screen color looks consistent even when viewed from an angle. I docked a star to this monitor because even though it was presumably color calibrated, it still had to change the default color settings to make it look right. I am very happy with this monitor and glad I bought it despite the many bad reviews here at Revain.
