Review on Dell U2518D LED Lit Monitor - Enhanced Compatibility for 2560X1440P by Chris Boyer

After trying and returning several other monitors with similar specs, this monitor turned out to be really great. I've been looking for a 2560 x 1440 monitor with a smaller screen for less than $300 or so, but there are very few around. Available options. I find that two 27" monitors take up too much desktop real estate, and 23.6-24" 1440p screens leave unscaled screen elements too small, which is undesirable. This 25-inch monitor had the perfect screen size and pixel density - surprisingly hard to come by. The clarity of everything on the screen is excellent. Everything is crisp and clear, with no artificial sharpness. A few monitors I've tried before had horrible "rainbow glow" issues from their matte/anti-glare finish, making focusing extremely difficult. This monitor does not have this problem at all. Colors look very deep and saturated. The monitor can be very bright. I bought two of these and they were a slightly different color - one naturally warmer and the other cooler as you can see from the gray tint on the OSD. It doesn't bother me too much, and I was able to shift colors in ways that aren't noticeable, but it's worth considering if you're particularly in the mood for multiple monitors to be accurately calibrated. Both monitors I bought had the green toned down from the default settings, but other than that the colors look very real. More than any other monitor I've had, I feel like I'm seeing closer to the full range of values while still being able to distinguish values in both bright whites and dark blacks. This is indeed the case with both monitors I have purchased. It seems consistent that the left side is slightly warmer and the right side is slightly bluer at the bottom of the screen. I don't find this color shift noticeable enough to notice in practical use. I haven't used features like Smart HDR because I usually find things like that useless. No backlight issues or anything like that. . There seems to be a very minimal/acceptable amount, right at the bottom of the screen. Not sure if I'm lucky, but both of the ones I bought seem to have a lot less than what I've seen in some reviews. As for the gap issue - I read a lot about it and it almost held me back. discouraged buying this monitor in general, but I'm glad it isn't. I have a GTX 1070 and haven't encountered this problem so far. I'm not sure if Dell made any fixes to their firmware, but both monitors I bought came with the M2T104 firmware installed. I've only tried these monitors on PC, not consoles, but I'll edit my review if that changes. However, while playing various games on PC, this problem has not yet occurred. It's not what I was looking for when I bought these monitors, but the adjustable stands are amazing and I like the overall design of the monitor. I always prefer flat and square base monitors. The rotation is comfortable and the height adjustment works very well while maintaining power. I'll probably never use the full screen rotation feature, but it's nice to have the option. The monitor has a variety of connection options, and additional USB ports are also useful. Overall I think these monitors are excellent value for money (I bought them for around $300 each) and having tested other 24-25 inch 1440p monitors in a similar price range , I couldn't find a better one.
