Difference in size, thin packaging and easily damaged laminate surface are the main facts about this product. Bought to replace a platter on a side table, it is advertised as 24" x 24" but actually looks more like 23 1/2" x 23 1/2" which is the main difference when using this one item for the project. In my case it was smaller, but I can deal with that, the return is too cumbersome for me. The surface lamination is cheap, flimsy, and poorly bonded to the base material, making it very easy to chip and peel. The packaging was done by a person who didn't care how the product arrived. Just enough bubble wrap and a layer of cardboard to protect the item. The bubble wrap actually got under the lamination and when removed caused shavings on the black laminated top (this is why we use a wood finish). Your best bet is to go to a hardware store, buy a piece of fiberboard, and then finish it yourself. Final opinion - don't waste your money.
