Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good value

This is a decent shredder but don't put 12 sheets in it - you can hear the motor running. CDs wouldn't work without using the back and forward button a couple of times. He tore up the credit card perfectly. I bought it because I needed to get rid of 12 year old receipts and tax returns. Every year I filled 2 kitchen size garbage bags with shredded paper. I had to let it cool down 4-5 times to let it run for about 30 minutes before it automatically shut off. The shredded paper was the size I expected. The container slides in and out easily. Altogether there were 3 jams in 12 years, which is pretty good, but I have limited myself to a maximum of 8 pages. Otherwise the engine will have to work too hard. The security features are good. There should be a decent amount of paper in the slot before launch. I don't think a kid could stick their fingers in the slot and accidentally turn it on. The trash can wasn't too picky; There were a few times it didn't install properly and it didn't work and the shredded paper ended up in the trash instead of out. The only pieces of shredded paper that didn't end up in the bin were the ones that fell out of the shredder when I pulled it out. I overfilled it a few times and at one point it shut off. Although it was more difficult to pull out, I was able to partially pull it out, pushing the scraps through and pouring them out, without getting tangled. Overall I think it was a good buy for the price. I checked the local stores
