Review on πŸšͺ Dorman 746-157 Door Lock Actuator Motor for Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury Models - Enhanced Compatibility and Performance by James Arellano

Good replacement Door Lock Actuator

Installed on a 1997 Ford Expedition. Fits and works well. Installation may take longer than expected due to limited door space. There is only 2-3 cm clearance. As stated elsewhere, do not drill out the rivet holding the spring clip. Two notes: 1. The spring clip that holds the actuator in place can be difficult to open. It's strong enough (so the drive won't fall out). There is a small hole at the base of the clip. Insert a screwdriver (or similar tool) into the hole and pry the clamp base with one hand to open the clamp and position the driver with the other hand. This is much easier than trying to pry the clamp open with your hands or pressing the clamp against the drive case, which can be difficult during installation when trying to slide the drive into place.2. Removing the rod/hook from the lock is difficult as the hook is attached to the operator and the hook is designed not to be easily removed. Use side cutters and cut off the plastic drive rod; the inner cross section is easy to cut. The shorter rod/hook assembly without the drive housing is now much easier to handle. If necessary, unscrew the flat latch handle at the top of the door; Slide the control rod out of the way to allow more room to remove the drive hook.
