Had to use 2 large muffler clamps and a pipe extender after having to cut part of the original 1997 Ford Ranger pipe. I also welded it on and then painted the whole exhaust pipe with high temp paint. It looks and sounds better than before, but the engine is actually louder than the exhaust until it's over 45mph and you only hear it when the speed isn't steadily picking up, but I prefer it. The original exhaust seemed to be too close to the truck body so I ordered the end of the exhaust and now the smoke is further away from the body like it should be. If you put your ear to the end of the exhaust pipe at idle you can definitely hear the difference but the engine is noisy and I have an expensive washable air filter not a paper filter which also makes a difference but replace everything else around the check engine light to check, and maintenance can cost a lot. 90's trucks are designed to remain as they are, with no air cleaner and no tailpipe.
