I have a 6 amp version of this drill (body is identical) from 2017 and have used it on many projects. I expect this 5.5 amp model to perform the same as my 6 amp model. I've used it successfully to mix paint, drill holes in 4x4 racks up to 1" thick, drive 6" wood studs connecting 2x4 to 4x4, etc. I also have several BD 20V battery packs -Power tools and I LOVE them, but sometimes you need them AC torque to get the job done right and that's where this drill bit fills the gap. I have invested in 20V lithium battery tools but having an inexpensive AC tool if this is the right solution is a must. The pistol grip fits perfectly and helps control the torque of this drill. In addition, the chuckless head design makes it easy to change bits. For the typical DIY (non-commercial use) I would recommend this!
